Understanding the Difference
Polishing and waxing serve different purposes, though the terms are often used interchangeably. Waxing (or sealing) applies a protective layer over the paint that shields it from UV, water, dirt, and mild contaminants. You polish first if the paint needs correction, then wax to protect. Skipping polishing means you seal in existing imperfections; skipping waxing means you leave the freshly polished paint unprotected.
Preparation is Everything
Wax on top of dirt seals the dirt against the paint. Always wash and dry the vehicle thoroughly before waxing. For best results, follow up the wash with a clay bar treatment – clay lifts bonded contaminants (tar, industrial fallout, brake dust particles) that surviving washing. Work in shade with paint cool to the touch. Direct sun causes wax to dry too quickly, making it hard to buff off and streaking the finish. Choosing Your Products

Maintenance Between Waxes
